The national champion women of USC and Northern California upstart San Jose State are receiving European attention for their recent recruiting successes.
As reported in Waterpolo World, the Spartans have signed German national Bianca Seyfert, a 19-year old with senior team experience. The Bayer Uerdingen club member is touted as “the best German player of her age group,” and will parachute in to San Jose with enough to time to train for the season’s kickoff on January 26.
Also featured, news that Spanish senior team Olympian and European female player of the year Anni Espar Llaquet had joined the Trojans in October. The CN Sabadell star finished the Olympics with 15 goals and will be expected to contribute immediately as USC attempts to win its first championship since 2010. She will be joined by Greek junior team members Stephania and Ioanna Haralabidis in 2014.
Arizona State freshman and Hungarian Olympian Rita Keszthelyi didn’t get the same coverage but is no less important to her new American team. The forward scored 10 goals in the London tournament where the Hungarians placed fourth.
