The Texas high school swim season hasn’t ended, yet the girls of Round Rock High School’s water polo team are already at practice for the upcoming TISCA water polo season. As earlier reported by TWp, the West Region of TISCA is undergoing changes. Several Central Teas schools are expected to field teams for the first time this season. But Round Rock will field boys’ and girls’ teams for the second year running having come close to qualifying for the boys’ state championships last year.
Coach Tom Arredondo had 25 girls scrimmaging this chilly morning. Practice time for both his squads runs during first period swim: 8:15 to 9:45 at Micki Krebsbach Pool, adjacent to the school campus. Arredondo arrived in Texas nearly 20 years ago from El Segundo, CA. Until last year he used water polo to augment swim training, but now heads in to the 2013 season as a TISCA water polo veteran.
