By The class of the Midwest was revealed in the final match of the DeSmet Invitational where SLUH defeated Fenwick to take the title. Despite a minor debate earlier in the day about other teams being the best in Missouri, St. Louis University High proved themselves superior not only in the Show Me State but the Midwest overall.
A 6-6 tie at regulation was broken in sudden death overtime by Tom Critchfield, who fired one in from the perimeter to conclude the defensive struggle. SLUH maintained a lead for most of the contest, a match of elevated quality between familiar foes.
Parkway West beat Orlando’s Dr. Phillips in the 3rd place match.
