Long Beach State traveled to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday and left with a two-goal victory over the Gauchos. For their efforts they were rewarded this week with a fifth place ranking in the CWPA Men’s Varsity Week 5/October 8 poll. They swapped spots with Santa Barbara who fell to sixth.

UCLA remains on top, five points ahead of Stanford. Cal, USC, Pacific, UC San Diego, UC Irvine and Princeton round out the other top 10 positions.

Chapman University made the biggest leap of the week. The Panthers went on a five match tear beating Johns Hopkins, Iona, Gannon, Washington & Jefferson, and Fordham to finish a successful Gary Troyer tournament in Claremont. They rose four spots in the Division III poll to reach the second rank.
