By UC San Diego is returning to the NCAA Championship tournament after a dominating 12-6 win over rivals Loyola Marymount in the Western Water Polo Association final on Sunday. The Tritons raced to a 12-1 lead and were never challenged by the Lions, who upset UC Davis in their semifinal match to earn a spot against the nation’s sixth ranked team from La Jolla.
With the win the Tritons have now earned 17 WWPA titles, and Coach Denny Harper has secured a remarkable 600 wins in his 35-year career. He and tournament MVP, goalkeeper Cameron Ravenbach reflect on the victory and anticipate their opening round play-in match versus CWPA champs Brown in two weeks.
