By Expectations were high and still are for top-ranked Stanford (tied with UCLA). Cardinal supporters feel slighted by a number two seed after the team won its first MPSF title in a decade. The team sports two experienced men’s national team sharpshooters in Brett Bonanni and Alex Bowen, and a resurgent goalkeeper in Drew Holland. All three top seeds have been ranked No. 1 for at least part of the 2014 season making this tournament one of the most openly competitive in memory.
