Disappointing news from the Rockies as Colorado State University has announced that the women’s water polo team will cease operations after the current season is complete. Athletic Director Jack Graham announced it today while introducing women’s soccer to the school’s sports offerings:

“We appreciate the many contributions our water polo student-athletes have made to Colorado State both academically and athletically, and we are grateful to head coach Mike Moody for his efforts in leading them,” Graham said. “The decision to drop water polo is a very difficult one. After careful study and deliberation, however, we have concluded that these sport sponsorship changes are logical and in the best interests of the university.”
