Fenwick of Oak Park, IL recently placed third in the York Tournament after a thrilling sudden death overtime loss to St. Louis University High last weekend. At least some of that loss can be attributed to the injury of UCLA-bound Matt Farmer, who is recovering from hand surgery and may miss the rest of the spring season, according to The Forest Leaves.

A coach familiar with the team has told TWp that Farmer may attempt to play before the end of Illinois Sectionals, which get under way on May 6. The Friars are grouped with illpolo.com’s top ranked Lyons, which means that only one of the two top ranked teams will qualify to play in the state championships, a repeat of last season’s scenario. In 2012 Lyons defeated Fenwick to eliminate the Friars from the state championship tournament.
Fenwick kicks off today’s competition at the DeSmet Invitational against Lindbergh at 3:00 at the St. Peter’s Rec-Plex.
