First round matches are under way today at Harvard’s Blodgett Pool for the 2013 NCAA women’s water polo championships. Those games are only a small sample of what is taking place this weekend in US interscholastic water polo. Parts of seven major championships are on today’s schedule, highlighted by Punahou’s attempt at a sixth consecutive HHSAA championship in Honolulu. 2012 third-place team Kahuku will attempt to derail Punahou’s efforts (6.30pm Hawaiian time).

The boys of Missouri play their semifinals games today, while sectional semis run wild in Illinois. The Washington and Michigan girls begin their season-ending championship brackets, and Utah high schools conduct their conference title tournaments.
