The boys of Calvert Hall Prep School in Maryland couldn’t parlay its recent state championship in to an equivalent result at the recently completed Water Polo Easterns at the Naval Academy. In-state rivals Loyola Blakefield of Towson defeated Pennsylvania’s Malvern Prep, 7-5, in the final match to take home the highly regarded eastern prep school trophy.
Fourth-seeded Malvern surprised Calvert Hall in the semifinals with 6-5 victory. Loyola Blakefield, which entered the weekend with the second seed, encountered a stiff challenge from DC’s third-seeded Gonzaga Prep before winning 9-8, propelling them to the final match.
