Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach Dejan Udovicic made good on a few of his key initiatives in naming the roster for the Volvo Cup in Hungary next month. The squad is likely the youngest and most geographically diverse Senior team ever with athletes from Ohio, Florida, and Connecticut, whence the 16-year-old left-hander Thomas Dunstan hails.

Since taking the top US job Udovicic has aimed to expand the search for talent outside California and promote a more youthful pipeline, producing a team with an average age of just 20. And to compete with typically larger European squads he’s sought more size, and now has 6′ 11″ Ohio native lefty Dan Matulis backing up team captain John Mann and emerging favorite Alex Obert at center.

The Volvo Cup gets under way for the US Team on February 7 in Sznolnok with an opening match against Udovicic’s native Serbia, followed by Germany and Hungary the following two days.
