Both Bellevue and Mercer Island have traditionally spent parts of their fall water polo seasons competing and gaining experience against Southern California challengers. The well-known America’s Finest City tournament in San Diego is a favorite venue for both programs. Bellevue returned to Washington last week having earned a very respectable 12th place among the 32 entrants who converged on Coronado.
Waiting for them upon arrival were in-state rivals Mercer Island who hosted the Wolverines on Tuesday and held on to earn a 13-11 victory. Both squads are among the top rated in Washington and could meet again in in the state championship tournament coming later this fall. Until then, catch some mid-season preps from the Evergreen State.
Bellevue takes 12th out of 32 in the America's Finest City tourney in San Diego. Great job Wolverines!
