By To the Pacific Northwest where two of the premier boys’ programs in Washington state met on Tuesday in an important league matchup. Bellevue are the three-time defending state champions. Mercer Island won eleven straight state titles beginning in 2000. A September 30 meeting between the two resulted in a 13-11 victory for the host Islanders. On Tuesday they met again at Bellevue and the results were upturned with the Wolverines on the positive side, 15-13, and all the twilight action captured by YouTuber Zack Rossman.
The two could meet again when regional championships begin on November 7 followed by states the next weekend. Both programs will tune up for their playoff season by representing the Evergreen State at the San Diego Invitational this weekend.
