The Cal Bears entered the NCAA Championship tournament on a roll surprising fans with a run all the way to the MPSF finals. UC Irvine had to rely on an at-large bid to even get in the competition after a title loss to Hawai’i in the Big West championship. But none of that mattered on Friday when the Anteaters nearly toppled the higher-seeded Bears falling only after a thrilling end to their quarterfinal matchup.
