Rebounding nicely from this morning’s lackluster performance against MICDS, Fenwick outplayed Missouri state champs Parkway West this afternoon winning the match 10-3 and their bracket. The Friars were simply better today, well positioned defensively throughout the pool, stifling any Longhorn offensive momentum both in the front court and counterattack. As usual, the superior defense led to multiple advantages on the offensive end, which Fenwick took full advantage of.

Asked about the Parkway West performance, one coach was not surprised, saying, “MICDS is the best team in Missouri right now,” which on the surface does not make sense owing to the Rams’ first round loss (11-8) to Parkway West. MICDS’ convincing victory over Lindbergh earlier today could be more indicative of their abilities: a well-schooled fundamentally sound team, which is undoubtedly disappointed to be playing for seventh fifth place this afternoon.
More to come as the tournament winds down.

An earlier version of this story indicated that MICDS would be playing for seventh place today. They will play Kirkwood for fifth. Since corrected.
